Many system traders operate in a vicious cycle in which a system is developed and deployed, shortly thereafter going into a drawdown greater than the maximum historical drawdown. In response, the trader pulls the system and goes back to the drawing board, only to watch the system recover to its former performance levels. Our goal is to break this cycle by understanding its underlying causes and developing tools to cope with them.
At the end of this intensive 2-day seminar you will have a solid foundation in automated trading system design, development, testing, and deployment. You’ll learn how to assess and address infrastructure needs and data issues, system design methodologies on various timeframes, how to avoid common traps in evaluating and testing trading systems, and automated execution of trading systems.
Perhaps most importantly, you’ll learn how to calibrate your expectations realistically and assess the real-time performance of your trading system. Along the way, together we will build the tools necessary to perform the above (primarily in Excel) and apply them to the development of a complete trading system from concept to implementation.
The speaker, John Joseph, is an experienced trader, speaker and educator, with 5 years experience teaching mathematics at the University of Massachusetts where he was nominated for the Distinguished Teaching Award, 3 years on the adjunct faculty at Western Connecticut State University, and numerous speaking engagements in the software and financial services industries. John is also the founder of NextDimension Creative Technologies and Sema4Group.
